Vol. 3 Edition 9, June 2009
Our president, Paul Krzywicki, received a note from a former colleague and old friend, Irwin Eisenberg, violin, from 1946-1966, advising us of his upcoming 90th birthday on May 25, 2009. In his note, he expressed a wish that all of his old friends could attend a big party being planned for him, but he realizes that Seattle is a bit too far for most. We wish him the best birthday possible.
We have been advised that tickets to the Orchestra concerts are 1/2 price not only to retired orchestra members, but are now available to all members of P.O.R.F.. This applies to subscriptions only. We will be mailing P.O.R.F. ID cards to members currently in good standing. Half price subscriptions may be ordered by contacting Ticket Philadelphia at 215.893.1999 and identifying yourself as a P.O.R.F. member.
Just a reminder, the annual P.O.R.F luncheon is being held on June 15th at the DoubleTree Guest Suites Hotel in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. This year the luncheon will be held in the Walnut Ballroom on the main floor because of the warm conditions of the terrace area with the sun coming in, as in previous years. guest speaker and will probably entertain questions from everyone. We look forward each year to getting together with our friends and orchestra members to re-hash old news and new. It is very gratifying for old timers to chat with as many of the orchestra members as possible. We already have several retired members coming in from out of town. Attached is the menu and order form as well as an order form for CDs and/or a DVD. We were once again able to keep the cost of the luncheon to a minimum, $26.00 per person. There will be a cash bar available. Please return your completed forms to Paul Krzywicki, 1102 Cromwell Rd., Wyndmoor, Pa. 19038. Forms need to be sent back to Paul immediately. We hope to see you there.
HUMOR
My face in the mirror
Isn?t wrinkled or drawn.
My house isn?t dirty,
The cobwebs are gone.
My garden looks lovely,
And so does my lawn.
I think I might never
Put my glasses back on.
