Six FREE concerts to take place throughout the city February 16–July 26, 2020
Full Orchestra to return to Eagles’s NovaCare Complex for sensory-friendly concert
(Philadelphia, January 27, 2020)—In its ongoing work to deepen ties to Philadelphians and to make music accessible to all, The Philadelphia Orchestra continues its Free Neighborhood Chamber Concert Series for the third year. Taking place from February to July, the series features five chamber concerts around the city as well as a full-orchestra, sensory-friendly concert at the Eagles’s NovaCare Complex.
“Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin has long championed the Orchestra’s work within the communities of Philadelphia,” said Philadelphia Orchestra President and CEO Matías Tarnopolsky. “As Your Philadelphia Orchestra, we are dedicated to engaging and connecting with the residents of our beloved city through music. We look forward to inspiring others to build the foundation for a lifelong love of music, and to start education initiatives that expand access to the arts.”
Chamber performances will take place at Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein in Northeast Philadelphia, the Barbara and David Loeb Performing Arts Center in Germantown, NextFab in North Philadelphia, the East Passyunk Singing Fountain in South Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Zoo in West Philadelphia. The series will also include a full-orchestra, sensory-friendly concert at the Eagles’s NovaCare Complex. Pre-concert activities, including games and giveaways, will begin 90 minutes before each concert. All events are free and open to the public—online RSVPs at www.philorch.org/freeconcerts are encouraged. The Free Neighborhood Chamber Concert Series is generously supported by the William Penn Foundation and PNC Arts Alive.
