The Philadelphia Orchestra Launches Free Ticket Program for School District of Philadelphia Employees

Posted on September 12, 2019

School District teachers, administrators, and staff to receive FREE general admission tickets for the 2019–20 season through APPLE (Appreciation Program for PhilaSD Leaders in Education)

(Philadelphia, September 12, 2019)—In partnership with the School District of Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Orchestra launches its free ticket program for School District teachers, administrators, and staff. Designed to give back to those who devote so much to the children and communities of Philadelphia, APPLE (Appreciation Program for PhilaSD Leaders in Education) offers School District employees free general admission tickets to concerts throughout the 201920 season. Participants can register at www.philorch.org/apple to receive weekly e-mails regarding concert eligibility.

APPLE builds on the Orchestra’s growing portfolio of programs in collaboration with the School District, including School Concerts, the School Partnership Program, the School Ensemble Program, and the All City Orchestra Fellowship, which are part of the Orchestra’s HEAR initiative.

“As Your Philadelphia Orchestra, it is a great source of pride for us to give back to others who are the bedrock of our communities,” said Orchestra President and CEO Matías Tarnopolsky. “Several musicians of the Orchestra are graduates of the School District of Philadelphia. Through APPLE, we all have a chance to express our gratitude through the joy of music, and to inspire by the example of their teachers, a new generation. We look forward to School District employees filling our halls week after week.”

“APPLE is truly a milestone in our ongoing and deepening partnership with The Philadelphia Orchestra,” said Dr. William Hite, superintendent of The School District of Philadelphia. “On behalf of everyone at the School District, thank you for giving our employees and educators unprecedented access to music performed at the highest caliber.”
