The Philadelphia Orchestra set off for its 2022 Tour of European Festivals, its first international tour since before the pandemic. The musicians gathered at Newark Liberty International Airport for the originally scheduled 8:10 PM flight to Edinburgh. After delays, the flight was eventually cancelled, with members of the Orchestra staff and the travel management company, TravTours, scrambling not only to find new flights but also hotel rooms for the night. After a night in New York City, the tour party was put on many different flights, connecting from different cities. Finally, everyone arrived in Edinburgh. Some luggage had been lost in transit, but people were able to enjoy a bit of down time until rehearsals and concerts begin on the 25th.
